Allen M. Hornblum
A former political organizer, criminal justice official, and college professor, Hornblum is also a prolific author whose books cover a wide range of subjects from Irish hoodlums and American spies to honored but unethical physicians and iconic athletes who fell from grace.
A Philadelphia native with degrees from Penn State, Villanova, and Temple Universities, along with years working in the Philadelphia prisons, Sheriff’s Office, and state crime commission, Hornblum brings a wealth of experience, relationships, and tenacity to the various subjects he’s chosen to tackle.
His books have garnered international attention, and been featured on news shows such as Good Morning America, the CBS Evening News, the BBC, Le Monde, Deutsche Welle, Xinhua News Agency, and newspapers across the country including the front pages of the Philadelphia Inquirer and New York Times.
He has lectured widely — both home and abroad — to an array of prominent groups and institutions including the British Medical Association, the National Institutes of Health, National Archives, and Federal Bureau of Investigation. His many presentations at academic institutions include Princeton, Brown, Penn State, University of Pennsylvania, St. Joseph’s, and numerous medical schools.
